IPL 2019 Auction: Yuvraj Singh goes unsold after first round of bidding

first_imgIndia all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has gone unsold in the first round of the IPL 2019 Auction on Tuesday.Yuvraj had reduced his base price for the first time this year and set it at Rs 1 crore but still went without a bid in the first round. He will be brought back in the auction pool later in the evening.Yuvraj was the most expensive player in the history of the IPL auctions when Delhi Capitals paid a whopping Rs 16 crore for the swashbuckling all-rounder back in 2015.Incidentally, he was also the record the year before, when Royal Challengers Bangalore paid a 14 crore to get his services but released him the following year because of his bad form and fitness. The 37-year-old has so far played for four franchises – Kings XI Punjab, Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad. He won the IPL with SRH in 2016 before being released by the team the following season.Yuvraj has so far played 128 matches in the tournament and amassed 2652 runs at an average of 24.78 with 12 half-centuries and a highest score of 83.Yuvraj hasn’t played for the senior national team since June 30 and has not been in the selectors’ radar in the recent past. However, he still receives a tremendous reception whenever he walks out to bat in domestic games. Every time he slog-sweeps a spinner over the ropes, the cricketing world is at its feet.Yuvraj recently revealed that he is eager for one final shot at the 2019 World Cup, which is just six months away. The all-rounder’s performances in the domestic circuit have been far from impressive this season and time is certainly running out for him.advertisementRegardless of whether he plays for India again or not, the prince from Punjab will remain as one of India’s greatest cricketing heroes.last_img read more
