first_imgTHE NATIONAL GRANT body has restored grants for nearly 40 students who had had their funding suspended.SUSI had suspended the payments for some full-time dental nursing and dental hygiene students at both UCC and Trinity College following a review which suggested that the courses may not have been in compliance with grant eligibility criteria.However, following a consultation with the Department of Education, the courses have been cleared and payments restored.The Union of Students Ireland (USI) welcomed the decision, saying collaboration between students and educational institutions was key.“Since we became aware of this situation, we have been working alongside the Department of Education and Skills and SUSI with a view to reaching a favourable conclusion for these students.It is important that all stakeholders work together to ensure issues such as these are dealt with speedily and satisfactorily should they arise.Read: SUSI may ‘seek to recover’ 65 postgraduate grantsRead: SUSI: Decisions have been made on all completed student grant applicationslast_img
